THEY WERE SOMEONE'S EVERYTHING

To every family member, survivor, and friend who lost someone to Christopher Wilder's violence —this is for them.

We made this podcast with one simple purpose: to honour the victims who never made it home. Not as statistics in a crime story, but as the daughters, sisters, mothers, and friends they were.

Parents opened their doors to us. Siblings shared memories they'd never spoken aloud. Friends trusted us with stories of young women who had dreams as big as their futures were bright—nurses, teachers, students, mothers — all with lives that mattered far beyond the moment they encountered evil.

What we discovered changed us.

We witnessed grief that spans generations. We met families still carrying wounds from forty years ago. We saw how one act of violence doesn't just end a life — it reshapes every life it touches, forever.

But we also saw something else: the fierce love that refuses to let these women be forgotten. The determination to ensure they are remembered not for how they died, but for how they lived.

Their stories deserve to be heard. Their names deserve to be spoken. Their lives deserve to be celebrated.

If this podcast helps one person recognise danger, trust their instincts, or find the courage to speak up — then these women's voices will have saved a life.

That would be the greatest tribute of all.

Andy

Hi, I'm Andy Byrne. As a journalist, author, and podcaster, I've always been drawn to the mysteries of true crime, just like many of you.

My journey has taken me to some unsettling places, including a memorable encounter with a towering figure who chillingly demonstrated how he committed a murder.

That experience led to justice when my recording helped secure a conviction, but it also ignited my passion for understanding the minds behind the crimes.

My investigation into Christopher Wilder became an eight-year obsession, culminating in Catching Evil. I've shared parts of his story in my book, The Pretty Girl Killer, and a documentary, but this podcast allows us to explore the full, extraordinary story together. I'm honored to take this journey with you as we seek truth and understanding in the darkest corners.

 Mark

Hi, I'm Mark Llewellyn and I've been fortunate to spend over two decades crafting stories that resonate deeply with audiences. While I've garnered awards and recognition, my true passion lies in shedding light on the stories that matter—stories that reveal the strength and resilience of the human spirit in the face of darkness.

As the former head of News and Current Affairs at Australia's leading network, I've had the privilege of delving into some of the most gripping true-crime stories.

Driven by a commitment to authenticity and truth, I'm now excited to bring this passion to Catching Evil. Together, we'll explore the chilling world of true crime, honouring the voices and stories of those who have endured unimaginable challenges. Join me on this journey as we seek justice and understanding in the shadows

ABOUT US

Catching Evil is committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by violent crime, particularly in light of the chilling legacy left by serial killer Christopher Wilder, who left behind an unknown number of victims. In our pledge to honour these individuals and support their families, we donate a percentage of our profits from the podcast to homicide charities in both America and Australia.
Details and how you can support them here:

Survivors of Homicide, based in  Connecticut,  provides assistance to anyone who has lost a loved one to violent crime.

All services are offered to members free of charge, including one-on-one counselling, support groups,  court support throughout the judicial process and personal advocacy in working with law enforcement and other community agencies.

It was founded in 1983, just before Christopher Wilder went on his rampage, by a group of families trying to cope with the murder of a loved one that shattered their lives.

Catching Evil is seeking an Australian not-for-profit group that supports victims of violent crime. Funding for these organisations is increasingly scarce, and some have had to close their doors. If you have received support, volunteer, or work with a group in this space, we’d love to hear from you.
